Ramnicu Valcea (Romania) - Olt Valley (Romania)

(11:25AM) We have arrived to Ramnicu Valcea that is Valcea county residence. We don't go into Ramnicu Valcea, we are going on the belt highway. Ramnicu Valcea is a great town which offers to the visitors a lot of interesting and beatuiful places.

(11:43AM) In Ramnicu Valcea you can visit: History Museum (50000 exponent, Art Museum, Gheoghe Tatarescu house, Memorial Houses of Anton Pann and Gheorghe Magheru, The Philharmonic "Ion Dumitrescu", and so on. To the aprox. 5km from Ramnicu Valcea is Bujoreni village where you can visit the Valcean Village Museum, come into being, to 1971. If you have time you can go along Cheii Valley and to the Cheia Stramba Mountain.

(11:50AM) From Ramnicu Valcea you can go to Olanesti Baths. The mineral waters of the over 30 springs at Baile Olanesti are recommended in internal cure for the treatment of chronic diseases. Olanesti is a very beautiful town and my recommendation is to visit it.

(11:51AM) From Ramnicu Valcea we go on our route to Sibiu (national road DN7 and european road E81), there are 84km between them. Along the Ramnicu Valcea - Brezoi - Sibiu road there are many interesting villages. The most accessible road between Rm Valcea and Sibiu is the Olt valley and is better to be done by car, so and only so you ca admire this beautiful view.

(11:51AM) At Caciulata there is a sanatorium specialized in the treatment of hepatitis sequels, for children. There is also a sanatorium for silicosis patients. Also International pension which is situated near Cozia Monastery and near treatment place of Caciulata bath on European road E81.

(11:56AM) After 3 km from Calimanesti you can visit Cozia Monastery, situated on the right border of Olt river, to the west of mountain feet of Cozia massif and which was founded by Mircea cel Batran, also here is his vault. Also to the feet of Cozia massif, the most spectacular, there are many historical monuments such as: Turnu Monastery, which is nearly 2 km away from Cozia Monastery, and Stanisoara Monastery, real monuments with a feat medieval architecture, built in Byzantine style in XV century.

(11:56AM) In this area of massif Cozia, there are, also, many places for tourists, many rooming houses, hotels such as Cozia Hotel, and so on.
We are still on Olt Valley which is an amazing landscape. The lengthiness of Olt defile is 47km and Olt river is uppermost from Romania. Is between Capatinii, Lotru and Fagaras mountains. Olt River is one of the most important rivers from Romania.

(11:57AM) Olt river, get through seven counties: Harghita, Covasna, Brasov, Sibiu, Vâlcea, Olt and Teleorman. Ther are three impostant rivers: Mures, Tarnavele and Oltul, which take rise from Giurgeu Mountains, Curmaturii Mountains and Ciucului Mountains, from Harghita county.

(11:58AM) Olt River lengthiness is 670km and take its rise in Hasmalsul Mare, în Carpatii Orientali mountain. The Olt River is crossing the Valcea county from North to South.

(11:58AM) Olt river getting over Ciucului depression and cross Harghita mountain via Tusnad defile. Getting over Bârsei depression, divide Persani and Baraolt mountains per the defile from Racos and go inside of Fagaras depression. Cross the Carpatii Meridionali via Turnu Rosu defile and disgorge into Dunare river near Turnu Magurele city.
