County in Romania - Maramures county
Maramures county is situated in the north-west of Romania, is bordered to the north of the Ukraine. The residence of Maramures county is Baia-Mare, which is an important urban center. A tourist can admire in Baia-Mare the diversity of architecture and the exuberance of color and scent of flowers. Also a tourist has many places to see, such as: the Cathedral of the Assumption, built between 1905-1911, the Culture House, the Theater built in 1967 and so on. Also can partake of a great festival organized in Baia-Mare, named Chesnut Festival which takes three days 29,30 september and 1 octomber, in every year. First edition was in 1993.
Maramures county borders are: Ukraine to the north (is a country in Eastern Europe), Satu Mare county to the west, Suceava county to the east and to the south Cluj, Bistrita Nasaud and Salaj counties.
Maramures county has a mountainous ground. Here you can admire the mountains chines of Rodna, Gutai, Tibles, Maramures. Turistically, Maramures county is divided in four areas, each of them has its specifically cultural and ethnographic traditions and its beautiful landscapes.
